The best sandals

An assortment of sandals, in a wide variety of colors and styles, that we tested to find the best sandals.
Connie Park/NYT Wirecutter

Over many years, our style experts have scoured beaches, boardwalks, and considered dozens upon dozens of sandals to find the very best.

Today, after our latest round of testing, we published our brand-new crop of favorites. Our new picks — including polished and modern flip-flops, a classic pair of Birkenstocks, and luxe woven fisherman sandals — are what we'll be wearing all summer long.

If you're going to be exposed to the sun, you should be applying (and frequently reapplying!) at least an ounce of sunscreen to your whole body. In other words: a shot glass's worth, says writer and personal care expert Nancy Redd on our latest episode of The Wirecutter Show. And when it comes to your face, about a half teaspoon should do.

Your daily deal: A pretty quiet electric toothbrush

The electric toothbrush Philips Sonicare 4100 is shown on top of a green background.

This electric toothbrush has a long battery life, a handy two-minute timer, and various vibration settings. But also? It's the quietest of our recommendations. Good if you're after a more soothing twice-daily routine, we think.
